Brücke 49 is a charming villa located by the river on the“sunny side” of Vals, in the Swiss Alps. The villa was built in 1902 by a local Valser and has been in the possession of the local Furger family for three generations. In 2010, Ruth Kramer and Thomas Schacht, a Swiss-Danish couple who moved to Vals in 2009 to start a new life in the mountains, bought the house and completely renovated it into a stylish Bed & Breakfast. It offers today 4 unique double bedrooms dedicated to simplicity, luxury and design. The owners’ vision is to mix the original B&B idea with their passion for design, architecture, culture, originality and creativity. They want guests to experience the special blend of contemporary luxury and the timeless beauty of Vals.
Brücke 49 is part of a small community of only 950 people who live in Vals and the surrounding mountains. Most of them work in farming or as artisanal craftsmen and it seemed natural to the owners to have them as partners. Therefore, they only offer these wonderful local products to their guests and the keywords for their homemade breakfast are organic, healthy and local. Guests will enjoy the comfort and spirit of a house that is still going strong after sheltering its inhabitants for more than a 100 years. Carrying signs of a simple but happy life, which can be discovered in many details and corners of the house. From the huge natural Valser granite stone slabs on the ground floor to the heavy wooden beams holding the rough stone roof and the tons of snow during the long winter.
