Kenoa’s owner, Pedro Marques, is confident that Kenoa can be sustainable, without compromising on service or luxury. The architecture and the decoration of the resort have been inspired by the stunning natural beauty of the region. On the beautiful northeast coast of Barra de São Miguel, the Kenoa overlooks the green sea and its coral reef, dense mangroves and the surrounding nature reserve.
Sustainable materials have been used for the 23 suites and villas. The contrasting materials used throughout the resort blur the boundaries between the indoors and the great outdoors. The tree trunks of reforested Eucalyptus that seem grow through the floors and roofs, as if the hotel is a part of the surrounding mangroves, are unexpected and extraordinary. Kenoa also uses energysaving LED lights, recycled glass bottles and non-ironed staff uniforms. Headed by world renowned chef César Santos, the restaurant serves a delicious range of local cuisine made with locally sourced produce. You can try the specialties cooked in a traditional Portuguese Cataplana dish.
