  • The story of Postcard Cabins began when founder and CEO Jon Staff, at just 25 years old, sought an escape from the unrelenting pressures of his high-stress startup career. During a transformative road trip across the American West in a 26-foot Airstream, Jon discovered the rejuvenating power of unplugging, recharging, and reconnecting with nature. Inspired to share this experience with others, he teamed up with his college friend Pete Davis to launch the company in 2015. Originally named Getaway, their first cabin, Ovida, opened in southern New Hampshire near Boston, resonating deeply with guests seeking solace in nature. By 2016, buoyed by widespread media recognition and investor support, the company expanded to New York and rebranded as Postcard Cabins, embracing its mission to create serene, nature-focused retreats. Today, Postcard Cabins operates nationwide, helping guests rediscover balance and life’s simpler joys.

Now a leader in outdoor accommodations, Postcard Cabins boasts 29 Outposts across the United States. Each is carefully located within a two-hour drive of major cities, offering private woodland retreats that harmonize solitude with the restorative embrace of nature.

Custom-built cabins, ranging from 140 to 200 square feet, are thoughtfully designed with natural materials like wood, metal, and glass. Interiors feature warm Eastern White Pine and expansive picture windows that showcase stunning views of sunrises, starlit skies, and tranquil landscapes. Adding a nostalgic touch, each cabin is named after the grandparents of team members or guests.

Focused on simplicity and comfort, the cabins include queen or bunk beds with plush linens, a two-burner stove, mini-fridge, sink, toilet, and a hot shower stocked with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Climate control ensures a cozy stay year-round. Outdoor amenities, such as a fire pit with a grilling grate, seating, cookware, dishware, and a curated mini-library, make for a seamless getaway. Guests are encouraged to unplug using a cell phone lockbox, while pet-friendly cabins provide dog bowls, treats, waste bags, and outdoor leads for a $50 fee. For added safety, landlines are available in areas with limited cell service.

For a more luxurious experience, select Outposts—including Talladega Valley, Eastern Catskills, Machimoodus, Shenandoah, and Starved Rock—feature upgraded Outdoor Suites. These expanded spaces include hammocks, chef’s stations, and string lights, elevating the retreat experience. Flexible early check-in and late check-out options allow guests to maximize their time immersed in nature, ensuring every stay is a refreshing and restorative escape.
