Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge

A remote wilderness lodge in British Columbia

Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge is a remote luxury retreat on Vancouver Island, set within the UNESCO-designated Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Reserve where ocean, river, rainforest, and mountain wilderness meet. Reached by seaplane, boat, or helicopter, the lodge offers an all-inclusive immersion into the wild beauty of British Columbia, with canvas safari-style tents, guided adventures, generous dining, and a deep sense of place shaped by the Pacific Northwest.

Overview

Clayoquot Wilderness Lodge sits on a 600-acre wilderness reserve at the edge of Clayoquot Sound, one of Canada’s most extraordinary natural landscapes. Surrounded by temperate rainforest and the waters of the Bedwell River, the lodge feels deliberately removed from the outside world, accessible only by air or water and open seasonally during the warmer months from May to September.

The accommodation consists of 25 luxury canvas tents set between rainforest and waterfront. Each tent is designed to feel close to nature while offering refined comfort, with king beds, cast iron stoves, private decks, and either separate or ensuite bathrooms. The design is understated and tactile, balancing safari-style atmosphere with the warmth of the Pacific Northwest.

Days at Clayoquot are shaped around guided experiences and a personalized itinerary created for each guest. Signature activities include hiking, canyoning, kayaking, wildlife excursions, glacial plunges, and watersports, while optional adventures such as horseback riding, rock climbing, fishing, and heli-experiences allow for a deeper exploration of the surrounding wilderness.

The lodge experience is generously all-inclusive, with gourmet dining, premium drinks, and signature guided experiences included in the stay. Meals at The Cookhouse celebrate local, sustainable produce, while the Ivanhoe Lounge, Healing Grounds Spa, cedar hot tubs, and waterfront gathering spaces create a softer rhythm after days spent in the wild.
