Exclusive use safari house in Madikwe with private guides
Morukuru River House is a private safari sanctuary set along the quiet banks of the Marico River in Madikwe Game Reserve. Designed for exclusive use, it offers families and friends the rare privilege of experiencing a Big Five safari entirely on their own terms. Here, there are no shared vehicles, no fixed dining times, and no compromises, only space, freedom, and the rhythm of the African bush unfolding around you.

Overview
Positioned within Morukuru Family’s private concession, Morukuru River House blends contemporary comfort with the raw beauty of the surrounding wilderness. Floor to ceiling glass doors open onto expansive decks overlooking the river, where elephants drink at dawn and the bush hums quietly at dusk. The interiors are warm and refined, with natural textures, generous proportions, and a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living.
The house accommodates up to six adults and four children across three spacious en suite bedrooms and a dedicated children’s room. Every stay includes a private guide, tracker, chef, host, butler, and housekeeping team. This structure transforms the safari experience into something deeply personal. Game drives depart when you choose. Meals are prepared to your taste. Evenings may unfold around the fire in the boma or beneath the stars at a lantern lit bush dinner.
Madikwe itself is one of South Africa’s largest malaria free reserves, home to the Big Five as well as cheetah, wild dog, and more than 340 bird species. The diversity of terrain ensures exceptional game viewing throughout the year, from open plains to riverine forest. For families, the reserve offers the rare opportunity for children of all ages to join game drives, making it both thrilling and accessible.
Sustainability sits at the core of the experience. Morukuru River House operates fully off grid using solar power, reducing its environmental footprint while maintaining refined comfort. Through the Morukuru Goodwill Foundation, guests also contribute to wildlife conservation and community initiatives. A stay here is not only immersive, it is meaningful.
