Vipp Shelter
A minimalist lakeside cabin in southern Sweden
Vipp Shelter is a radical retreat designed for stillness, simplicity, and reconnection. Set directly on the shores of Lake Immeln in southern Sweden, this compact black steel structure strips life back to its essentials. Surrounded by forest and water, the shelter offers a rare opportunity to step away from everyday noise and return to a slower, quieter rhythm shaped by nature, light, and silence.

Overview
Designed as a large-scale Vipp object placed directly into the landscape, Vipp Shelter is a study in restraint. Measuring just 55 square meters, the structure is built entirely in black steel, reflecting Vipp’s heritage in metalwork and industrial design. Every element has been considered to reduce distraction and keep attention focused on what lies beyond the walls: forest, lake, sky, and weather.
Inside, the shelter unfolds as a single open space with carefully zoned functions. A fully equipped Vipp kitchen, dining area, and living space sit beneath a mezzanine sleeping loft, while floor-to-ceiling glazing opens the interior toward Lake Immeln. There is no television and no excess technology. Instead, nature becomes the focal point, changing hour by hour through shifting light, mist, and seasonal color.
The experience is intentionally quiet and analog. Evenings are spent cooking by the fire, listening to birdsong, or watching the lake darken at dusk. At night, the sleeping loft becomes a cocoon, allowing guests to fall asleep beneath the stars to the subtle soundtrack of wind and forest. The bathroom continues the same calm philosophy, with dark surfaces, warm light, and a walk-in shower designed for slow, grounding rituals.
Life at Vipp Shelter follows the pace of the landscape. Days may include canoeing directly from the private pier, hiking forest trails, or swimming in the lake’s clear water. With no programmed activities and no distractions, the shelter encourages guests to reset their internal rhythm, offering not entertainment but restoration.

“We craved birdsong and open skies. To get out of the city with all the necessities and nothing more. The shelter is the result of that dream.”
— Kasper Egelund, CEO and 3rd Generation Vipp Owner
