Overview
Song Saa was born from restoration. In 2006, founder Melita Koulmandas encountered two degraded islands surrounded by coral reefs in decline. Rather than turning away, she chose to rebuild. Long before the resort opened, work began alongside local communities to establish Cambodia’s first marine protected area and to implement the region’s first structured waste management initiative. The resort, which welcomed its first guests in 2013, was designed to sustain that work and extend it.
Today, the island remains proudly independent and female-founded, with regeneration embedded into its identity. Through the Song Saa Foundation, initiatives span coral nurseries, mangrove protection, education programs, healthcare missions, and sustainable livelihood projects. Regeneration here is not a marketing narrative but an operational reality. B Corp certification reinforces that commitment with measurable accountability.
The 24 villas are conceived as a dialogue with the landscape. Built from reclaimed timber and natural materials, they feel rooted rather than imposed. Infinity pools dissolve into the horizon, open-air showers blur interior and exterior, and handcrafted details reflect Cambodian artistry. Each space carries an earthy elegance that is tactile, restrained, and deeply calming. It is barefoot luxury with intention.
Wellbeing forms another pillar of the experience. At Saraan Sanctuaries, ancient Buddhist principles meet contemporary science in a setting shaped by jungle and sea. Guests may move from salt room sound therapy to Khmer herbal steam, from forest meditation to marine exploration. Days unfold through snorkelling on the house reef, kayaking through mangroves, dining beneath the stars, or simply watching the tide shift. Song Saa encourages slowness, presence, and reconnection.

Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH) or Sihanoukville International Airport (KOS). From there, guests transfer by road and private speedboat to Song Saa Lounge and onward to the island.

Guests are welcomed at the Song Saa Lounge in Sihanoukville before boarding a 45-minute private speedboat transfer to the island. The journey itself becomes part of the experience, gradually leaving the mainland behind for open sea and scattered islands.
