Zannier Sonop
A 1920s-inspired luxury tented lodge in the Namib Desert
Zannier Sonop is a desert mirage made real. Set high among granite boulders in the remote Namib, this intimate tented camp channels the spirit of a 1920s expedition. Vast horizons stretch endlessly in every direction, and the silence feels almost sacred. Here, adventure and elegance meet beneath some of the clearest skies on earth.

Overview
Perched within 13,800 private acres of protected desert, Sonop offers rare seclusion on the edge of the NamibRand Nature Reserve, one of Southern Africa’s largest private conservation areas. The landscape is elemental. Rolling dunes, endless plains, and distant mountains dissolve into horizon. Wildlife moves freely across the terrain, and the human footprint is deliberately minimal. The setting defines the experience.
The ten tented suites are constructed atop granite boulders and styled in authentic British colonial fashion. Canvas walls roll up to reveal panoramic views, vintage bathtubs invite slow rituals, and private terraces become front-row seats to sunrise and starlight. Interiors echo an era of exploration, with campaign furniture, brass details, and an understated grandeur that feels cinematic yet intimate.
Days unfold through guided desert adventures. Ride horseback across open plains. Glide silently on electric fat bikes. Float above the dunes in a hot air balloon at dawn. Return for lunch in the communal camp before retreating to the infinity pool carved into rock. As evening falls, candlelit gala dinners evoke another time, with five-course menus served under desert skies and stories shared around long tables.
Wellbeing here is inseparable from landscape. The open-air infinity pool overlooks the desert expanse. A traditional hut houses the spa, where treatments draw from local herbs and roots. At night, the desert transforms into a celestial theatre. Stargazing by telescope or watching a classic film at the open-air cinema becomes part of the ritual. Sonop is both vast and intimate, adventurous and reflective.
