Olkeri Camp
A remote Tarangire safari camp
Olkeri Camp is safari in its raw, elemental form. Set within the wild expanse of Randilen WMA near Tarangire National Park, it is a place shaped by elephants, baobabs, and the quiet rhythm of Maasai land. Named after the leopard, Olkeri offers not just comfort in the bush, but the rare freedom to explore it deeply, on foot, under stars, and beyond the limits of the ordinary game drive.

Overview
Olkeri Camp sits in a wildlife-rich corner of Greater Tarangire, an area known for its vast elephant herds, roaming buffalo, and striking baobab-dotted terrain. The camp overlooks an active waterhole and seasonal watercourses, creating constant movement and quiet drama throughout the day. Because it is located within a Wildlife Management Area rather than inside the national park itself, guests benefit from exceptional flexibility, including night drives and off-road exploration.
The camp consists of eight tented suites built on wooden platforms with expansive verandahs. Designed for privacy and immersion, each suite features en suite bathrooms with hot showers, flush toilets, and running water. Two interconnected tents form a family suite, making Olkeri especially well suited to families seeking a more adventurous safari. The large mess tent and lounge area overlook the waterhole, offering a relaxed gathering space between activities.
What defines Olkeri is the sense of movement it encourages. Days are shaped around private guiding, allowing complete flexibility. Walk with experienced guides across elephant trails. Spend a night fly camping beneath open skies. Sleep out beside an ancient baobab. Share time with local Maasai communities whose lives remain intertwined with this land. The safari becomes participatory rather than observational.
Despite its wild spirit, comfort is never compromised. The camp operates with thoughtful simplicity, balancing authenticity with attentive service. Evenings unfold around the fire, under wide African skies, where the sounds of the bush replace the noise of modern life. Olkeri is not a staged safari. It is a return to something older and more honest.

We wanted to nudge people a bit out of their comfort zone: walk more, sleep closer to the land, listen to the night. Safely, comfortably, but genuinely. Those moments tend to reshape how people feel about wilderness — it stops being scenery and starts being a relationship.”
