Les Demoiselles Jacquanes

A heritage 1784 farmhouse reimagined as a fully-staffed chalet in La Clusaz

Three years of restoration turned the Ferme des Riffroids, an 1784 heritage farmhouse and one of the first homes on its side of La Clusaz, into Les Demoiselles Jacquanes: a 680 square metre fully-staffed private chalet sleeping fourteen at the heart of the French Alpine village, 50 metres from the ski lifts and two minutes on foot from the centre.

Overview

La Clusaz is one of the more characterful villages in the Aravis massif, an hour from Geneva and forty minutes from Annecy, with a working farming community, a ski area threading directly through the village core, and the dramatic Aravis ridge as a constant horizon. The village has kept the rhythm of an authentic Alpine settlement rather than a purpose-built resort, and the slopes link up to neighbouring Le Grand-Bornand for a wider domain.

Two friends behind the project acquired the heritage-listed farmhouse and spent the following three years restoring it. One was born in the village with family roots in La Clusaz going back generations; the other moved here year-round more than five years ago and never left. The original timber beams were carefully dismantled, treated by local artisans, and reassembled throughout the building, and the traditional Tavaillon wooden-tile roof was rebuilt by hand. The result is a 680 square metre chalet that preserves the volumes, the soul, and the silhouette of the original farm.

Seven uniquely decorated bedrooms, each named after a surrounding Aravis peak (La Tournette, La Pointe Percée, La Mandallaz, La Tulle, Le Mont Charvin, Le Mont Fleuri, Le Roualle), sleep up to fourteen guests. Every room has a private en-suite, and the design throughout balances original timber and stonework with contemporary detailing, artisan craftsmanship, and considered lighting. The character changes from room to room while the thread of quiet authenticity runs through the whole building.

Stays here are designed to feel both supported and unhurried. The wellness wing holds a 24 square metre heated indoor pool overlooking the village and the Aravis ridge, alongside a sauna, hammam, jacuzzi, massage room, and gym. Beyond it, a private cinema, wine cellar, children’s playroom, and dedicated ski room sit at guests’ disposal. The skiing is immediate, fifty metres to the lifts and two minutes to the village. A chalet manager and the AR Lifestyle team coordinate everything else: private chef dinners, breakfast delivery, ski lessons, helicopter transfers, in-chalet massage and yoga, and tailored event planning for milestone occasions.

"The challenge was not to erase its past, but to reveal it again in a more refined and contemporary way."

Tips & Recommendations

01 / 05

Nearest Airport

Geneva International Airport (GVA), approximately 50 minutes by car, is the most convenient gateway. Lyon Saint-Exupéry (LYS) is 1 hour 40 minutes away, and Annecy is a 40-minute drive on the motorway.

02 / 05

Getting There

Most guests arrive by private transfer from Geneva, which the chalet manager can arrange. The drive from the airport leads up through the Aravis valley and into La Clusaz, ending at the chalet's covered private parking, with eight spaces and a direct connection to the ski room.

03 / 05

Best Time to Visit

Winter (December to April) brings the ski season, with the chalet's ski-in/ski-out access at its best. Summer (June to September) offers hiking, mountain biking, paragliding, and easy day trips to Lake Annecy. Spring and autumn shoulders bring quieter trails, longer light, and softer prices.

04 / 05

What to Bring

Ski or snowboarding gear in winter (rental and delivery to the chalet can be arranged), hiking and cycling kit in summer, plus layers for changing mountain weather year round. Premium linen, robes, and bath products are provided. Bring formal wear only if you plan to celebrate a particular occasion in-chalet.

Staying at Les Demoiselles Jacquanes

Use the chalet manager. The AR Lifestyle team can pre-stock the fridge, arrange a private chef, book ski lessons, and plan helicopter excursions or surprise events before you arrive, so that the stay flows without interruption. Reserve at least one evening for a private chef dinner and one slow afternoon in the wellness wing.
