Morukuru Owner's House
An exclusive-use two-bedroom safari house in Madikwe Game Reserve
Morukuru Owner’s House is the heart of the Morukuru story. Set on the banks of the Marico River in Madikwe Game Reserve, this exclusive-use retreat was once the private holiday home of the owners. Today, it welcomes couples, small families, or friends seeking an intimate safari experience. With only two bedrooms, dedicated staff, and the freedom to set your own rhythm, it offers rare privacy and the luxury of living the African bush on your own terms.

Overview
Morukuru Owner’s House is the most intimate expression of the Morukuru Family philosophy. Originally built as the owners’ private retreat, it remains a deeply personal safari home designed for exclusive use. With just two en-suite bedrooms, it offers couples or small families complete privacy within one of South Africa’s largest malaria-free Big Five reserves.
Set within a private concession in the southeastern corner of Madikwe Game Reserve, the house overlooks the Marico River across 75,000 hectares of protected wilderness. Lion, elephant, wild dog and cheetah move through diverse grasslands and riverine forest, creating exceptional wildlife viewing without the density of vehicles found in busier reserves.
What defines the experience here is freedom. There are no fixed schedules, no shared vehicles and no compromises. Your private guide, tracker, chef and host shape each day entirely around your rhythm. Early morning game drives may unfold into long bush breakfasts. Afternoons can be spent fishing, swimming in the private pool or reading in the intimate library before dinner in the boma under a sky scattered with stars.
The design reflects a refined balance between contemporary European restraint and African texture. Natural wood, stone and open decks invite seamless indoor-outdoor living. Fully solar powered and off-grid, the house embodies Morukuru’s long-standing commitment to conservation, inviting guests to enjoy an uncompromising safari while contributing to the preservation of both wildlife and community.
